Braces Rubber
Bands
Braces rubber bands are also called
Orthodontic Elastics. They are placed inside the mouth to
correct the bite size as these are adjunct devices. The
midpoint of the teeth make the jaw line need to be corrected
in some individuals generally children and teenagers. It
needs an extra support to be corrected with the help of
braces rubber bands as they are useful to correct minor
problems.
Rubber bands for orthodontic purposes are
available in different colors and sizes. They are usually
not purchased from just any drug store but you can get them
from your orthodontist. Different sizes apply different
forces to correct the bite. The orthodontist would suggest
the correct size for optimum use. They are consistently worn
at home or school.
They are securely attached to the brackets
with a hook in vertical and diagonal position from one
bracket to another. However, braces rubber bands can stretch
and pop inside the mouth. They are effective to shift the
teeth in right direction but not an alternative treatment to
correct every tooth in your mouth. They might feel strange
and it may take around a couple of weeks to get used to of
them.
Discretion is must while eating food. They
should be removed before taking a meal so they do not snap
or get swallowed down with the food. Since they can take the
color of the food it is recommended to change them daily to
avoid any embarrassment. They may snap if you open your
mouth too wide. It is wiser to have some extra supply of
braces rubber bands with you at home or school as a backup.
When they snap it is possible to give a shock and slight
pain to the user but they are not dangerous to slice your
skin or anything. Orthodontist elastics straighten the teeth
more quickly than other adjunct devices.
